I am so sorry for the Cowling family. Ellis was the most kind, helpful and truly concerned person who made good things actually happen. He was one of the major inspirations in my life. I will miss him.

We will always remember how you and your family took care of us and helped us, both privately and professionally, when we first came to the US. And the friendship we have had over the years. Our love to Bettsy, Evelyn and Emilie Anita and Ronny Ferm and family

In memory of a inspiring scientist and wonderful person . We will miss you and your generosity. Our sincere sympathy to Bettsy with family Kerstin and Peringe Grennfelt

Our sincere sympathy to your family. Dr Cowling was a brilliant example of using genius for the good of mankind.

Ellis was a treasure. Kind, brilliant, humble, interesting and engaging. He enriched my life both professionally as a university colleague and personally in shared conversations as neighbors at Chautauqua Institution many summers. Rest In Peace, Dear Ellis.

Kind, curious and ever friendly. I enjoyed each and every conversation with Ellis on campus and at Glenaire. His distinctive voice was always recognizable even on the radio. Eternal be his memory, eternal be his rest.
