When Duke called me on the telephone to tell me of your passing, I was so sad. But then I thought of the last time I saw you in New York, which was another sad occasion. You came to New York because Anna Mae had passed. I remember you and Bernice sitting next to each other talking to each other before you left New York to return to Charleston. Dear Mrs. McCray and Jack, I was so sorry to hear about Mr. McCray's passing. As a little girl, I always thought he was a kind man, but as I grew and saw him from time to time, I admired him as a true gentleman and devoted husband. I recall our last conversation at Krystel's wedding. He said, "Cathy take care of yourself and stay away from sugar and salt, those are two of your body's worst enemies."
