Not sure what to say?

Al was a great friend more many years. I was a young boy when I first met Al and Jean at Grace Reform Church. I will always remember the wonderful 4th of July camping days at Holland State Park in the early 1960´s. As the years rolled past and with many miles between us we were able to reconnect at "The Pines" golf course. My wife,Lin, and I were able to spend many times together when we were back in GR to visit friends and family. Al was a devoted Christian and through the redeeming blood...

I connected with Al some years ago while searching for men who had been in the OSS with my father, Burke Whitney. We would chat from time to time and I enjoyed the short time that I knew him. I´m sorry we never had the chance to meet. The last time we spoke was on August 9 of this year, previously when I chatted with him just before his 100th birthday in July, he mentioned that he was the last man standing in his squad. My dad died many years ago, and I hope that Al and all of the squad are...

Remembering Al Johnson as a member of my Dad's church when I was a little girl. Grace Reformed Church. . . I always remember him talking with my Dad at length after some sermons. Will always remember he and my Dad telling stories and having a laugh or two together. Rest in the arms of your Lord and Savior Mr. Ellsworth Johnson, God called you for your great reward. With Love and much Respect, Barbara K. Schut

My condolences.

As he has done with most people who got to know him Al left a lasting impression on me. I especially remember his inter generational talks to the youth of our community of Riley´s Grove. So glad for having him in my life for a time.

Met Al through a morning coffee group when Al was in his 90's. I came to know and respect him as a friend. He had stories in his mind about his military service behind enemy lines, that he was not permitted to talk about for 50 years. I observed Al giving presentations to various groups. He had a 30 to 40 minute talk that he gave without an outline or a note in front of him, and he kept everyone's attention. Mixed in with the sadness of his passing into glory there is a sense of celebration...

Dear Nancy, Jim, and family members: Prayers are being lifted up on your behalf as you go through this difficult time. Your dad, and mom, have been friends throughout the years - through laughs and tears. Al stands out as a servant of the Lord, and serving honorably our country, and now receives his crowning rewards in heaven. Love and prayers.

My Dad was in the Army WW 11. Told a lot of Stories ! RIP with all those who went before you, I Salute You Sir ! Sue Willard Gr.Mich.
