HADAD, Elma May Lowry Harris, passed away Monday, January 28, 2013 at her home in Henrico County. After a long and fulfilling life, at the age of 93, she has returned to her Heavenly Father. A viewing will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2013 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Highway, Ashland, Va. The funeral will be held at the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 14573 Scotchtown Road, Montpelier, Va., on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 10 a.m., followed by the interment at The Fork Church, 12566 Old Ridge Road, Doswell, Va. The family will gather with friends Saturday at 1 p.m. at Hadad's Lake, 7900 Osborne Turnpike, Richmond, Va. Born and raised in Hanover County, Ellie was a devoted and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother with a surviving posterity of 63 family members. She was preceded by her first husband, Owen Willard Harris; and her parents, William Sidney Lowry and Ruby Estelle Stanley Lowry. Loving her family dearly, she was actively involved in their lives, taking trips across country to spend time with them, sharing recipes (especially her famous fudge) and stories with her family and all who came calling. Ellie touched the lives of many who will forever remember her sweet spirit, sage advice and lasting influence. Ellie is survived by her loving husband, Ron; one daughter, Doris Mae; son-in-law, Jimmy; eight grandchildren, Karen, Spencer, Merrie, Carol, Robin, Michelle, Kyleigh, and Trent; two stepchildren, Dorian and Ronnie; 25 great-grandchildren, 30 great-great-grandchildren and still more to follow.

I'm so sorry to hear of Ellie's passing. I was just thinking of her the other day and her wonderful turkey salad. I know we lost touch but my thought and prayers are with you all. She was a special lady. God bless you all.
