Not sure what to say?

Nothing but fond memories of coach Combs. My Dad was several years older than Elmer, however, they both grew up in Huntington and went through the HB school district.

Coach Combs was my PE coach at least two of my four years at HB high. Boy, the mid 1960’s were long ago - yet - it was probably my second year under him. Coach smiled at me and said something like, hey Hosmer, I know your father, you’re a good kid.

I recently learned of Coach Combs passing from while...

After graduating from Huntington, I went on starting in 1974 to teach for the next 40 years. I know the impact as stated by many students that I had upon their lives and decisions to begin teaching careers. I have the honor of being a friend to EC. Seeing many of his basketball teams play and the excitement it brought brings happy memories, We became closer after his retirement and enjoyed many golf games together. God bless you good friend Roger Anderson

Coach Combs I played in a championship game against your team in 1971 and lost by 1. After the game you came up shook my hand and said you were so glad I was graduating so that I could not play against him ever again. He called it his[ all opponent team. Something I will always remember. Rest in peace coach, you were one of the best.

NHHS 1971

I was student at HBHS and graduated in 1967. I was more a student than athlete. Had limited contact with "Coach Combs" in gym classes but was avid basketball fan and enjoyed the success of the school basketball program.

Great coach and a great person. His teams always prepared. Made you know your team should be ready for a tough game. His first year was my senior year at Fullerton a High. We won the league but that gym, coach, and his players were always tough to beat.
