Dr. Grossman was our family pediatrician at Berkeley Pediatrics. I was a sickly child, allergic to bacteria, which means I would have been a bubble baby had they invented them then. You could watch me get sick if anyone with anything walked into a room. I missed most days of school and was a dyslexic ‘dummy’. Now I am 66, so I say he did a good job.

When I was 8 Dr. Grossman tried an experimental treatment on me, and I do not know what he used, but I had injections twice a week at...

I think Dr. Grossman was our family's pediatrician from when we first moved to Berkeley in 1959. He always made me feel comfortable, and exuded a warm and caring demeanor. I think my brother and both sisters would all agree that we couldn't have had a better first doctor experience. My condolences go out to his family and his many friends. Reading his obituary, I see that not only was he a great doctor, but a great citizen. It's been fifty years since I saw him, but reading of his passing hit...

Dr. Grossman was my pediatrician (starting 1977), came to my wedding (2009), and was a dear and treasured friend of my parents, Anne and Doug, even through his final days. To Pam and the family, you are in my thoughts. What a life he led! He is an inspiration to us all.

Elmer Grossman was my pediatrician and a family friend. Such a wonderful human being and doctor. He always gave the prescription to me , not my mom and listened with respect. I remember when I asked him about smoking pot, when I was 14. Having asthma I wondered what it would do to me. His first comment was "Well remember, even in Berkeley, it is illegal." (This was in 1974) Then he went on to tell me about what it might do to me, physically. He was a good man, a true mensch. May his memory be...

Dr. Grossman was my daughter's pediatrician from 1983 until his retirement. He had an incredible gift for connecting with kids and helping them feel safe. My daughter never had any fear of going to see him and always looked forward to her visits. He was also a great doctor to talk with as a parent. He was always warm and easy going and never flaunted his considerable medical skills and knowledge. I've forgotten all the other doctors my daughter subsequently went to (and many I've been to...

Dearest Marianna, thank you for being such an awesome leader and mentor to us at Sustainable Silicon Valley. As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends as well as the legacy Elmer has left behind.

R.I.P. Mr. Grossman! Marianna, you all are in my thoughts and prayers.

Everything I read in Elmer’s obituary was what I expected and experienced as a Patient of his and a Neighbor. A kind and a good listener . Gave me a great example for trust as a physician. A lovely humanitarian and human. Will be missed.
