Age: 73 • Stuarts Draft
Elmer Miller, 73, of Stuarts Draft went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 7, 2016 at Augusta Health.
Born January 29, 1943 in Dover, DE, he was the son of the late Jacob and Nancy (Schrock) Miller.
Elmer was a faithful member of Pike Mennonite Church, Harrisonburg. He worked as a self-employed mason. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Jolessa; as well as four sisters, Miriam, Martha, Ida and Mary.
Survivors include his loving wife, Alice (Troyer) Miller; daughters, Janice Miller, Brenda (Miller) Burkholder and husband, Merv, Nancy (Miller) Kinsinger and husband, Steve, and Connie (Miller) Miller and husband, Melvin; ten grandchildren; siblings, Irvin, David, Alvin, Amanda, Alma, Rhoda and Joe.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, October 10, 2016 at Pike Mennonite Church, 31 Pike Church Road, Harrisonburg. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 1870 Stuarts Draft Highway.

Dear Alice and family. I was saddened to learn that Elmer had died. He did many, many, projects for me in conjunction with Hevener Construction. It was always a pleasure to have him here and to listen to his entertaining stories, and to enjoy his wonderful personality. He will certainly be missed, and as I look at all the stonework and construction work that he did for my family, I know that his workmanship will live on. He was one of the most cordial, caring and friendly people that I have ever met. I am convinced his soul now rests in Heaven.

Mr. Miller will be missed. I feel very blessed that I was able to take care of him. I enjoyed all our talks. One memory that means a lot was when his daughter gave me 4 pages of scripture for me to give him every hour on the hour for encouragement and strength. Thank you for letting me take care of you family member. God bless you all.

dear Miller family,E J lived with our family when i was about thirteen i think.my memories of him are good ones.we all enjoyed having him there.I especially remember him driving down the road in his 57 chevy and playing a fast tune on his harmonica!My dog ran into the road in front of him as he was leaving one day and had to be put down.I , while mourning my dog still loved E J!Gods blessing to youall.Leroy Keim
