Not sure what to say?

I have worked at Mercy Care on Mt Vernon Road for 20 years! Elmer would always come get cans from us! He was always whistling and had a smile on his face! The sweetest man ever! Rest in peace Elmer!

Elmer was a wonderful and kind soul who ALWAYS had a smile on his face, sparkle in his eye, and a laugh in his conversation with you. I remember finding a little pig flashlight that oinked at a store. The kids and I bought it and took it over to his place to give it to him. (You knew you had the right place as the front door of his apartment and the space around it was filled with stuffed pigs and other cute pig decor. I think he brought joy to EVERYONE with whom he crossed paths. A life...

R.I.P. Elmer I didnt know Elmer personally but when I was working and living in CR i would run in to him at the Handimart on the SW side and the next time at the Hy Vee by Lindale. He was everywhere and always in a joyous mood like he didn't have a worry in life.

Rest in peace birthday boy, That's what Fred always called you. We will miss you. Pat and Fred Stieglitz

As a resident of the SE side just off of Mount Vernon Road, I have had the occasion to come across Elmer many times. He was a friendly fellow who always had a story to tell. He will be missed by the passersby as well as the many people in the shops that line the street that he would stop in daily to talk to. He was a blessing to your day if you had the good fortune of running into him. RIP Elmer!

I remember Elmer stopping in at Hardee´s on My Vernon road every day! He was always so cheerful and had something funny to say. RIP Elmer

I am sorry to hear of the death of Elmer. He was a fixture during my years in Cedar Rapids. He will be missed; he was always cheerful and smiling.
