Gary & Rosetta,Larry, & Joyce,we send our deepest sympathy to each of you.I knew Elmer my whole life,and what a sweetheart he was.He always took the time to talk,even towards the end of his life,when Im sure it would have been easier not to.At the wedding,we talked for quite a while,about losing my Mom and his losing his wife.They both suffered,and we knew how hard it was to watch.He cried,when he spoke of his wifes illness,I felt so bad for him,but I think he was ready to meet up with her...

Just wanted you to know we are thinking about you at this difficult time. the obituary was in the McDowell news and I know you will miss your Dad as I miss my parents. thinking about all of you,and our prayers are with you.

To the Willis family, I send my heartfelt condolences. I regret that I have not spent time with Elmer in over 60 years. My remembrance of him are of a very young boy running through the woods with him around "Mama" Willis' house in the mountains of North Carolina, probably about 1943. He was my Uncle, the brother of my Mother, Hessie.

I feel fortunate that I did talk with him on the phone a time or two over the last few years and throughly enjoyed our contacts.
