Not sure what to say?

I had the great honor of having had Elo as a colleague for much of her career here in Seattle and, to my delight, shared the University of Washington School of Medicine Distinguished Alumnus Award wih her in 1987. We also shared close friends, notably the late Barbara Bowman of the Universiy of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio.

Having known Elo for over 50 years, I have always admired her brains and activity level. She was an early fellow with Dr. Clem Finch, who cannot be here for the memorial. She repeatedly expressed her gratitude to him for furthering her career (which would have blossomed on its own). We all thought so highly of her as a scientist and as a person.

She took no prisoners. You began at the beginning and she took...

I did not work at the blood center when Dr Giblett was there. But for the past 13 years I've worked in the transfusion service lab. Although many things have changed since her tenure, it's obvious there continues to be an immense respect for Dr Giblett and the lasting mark she left on transfusion medicine and the blood center in the Western Washington community.
