JoAnne Caldwell, 85, of Clarksville, TN passed away on February 4th, 2025 after a long illness.
She was born on February 11th, 1939 in Dover, TN to Gilbert Wayne and Margaret Armstrong Crockarell. After graduating from Stewart County High School, she enrolled at Austin Peay State College where she was a majorette and in 1958, was elected Iris Queen. It was during this time that she met her future husband and the love of her life, A.D. Caldwell, Jr. The couple married in 1959 and moved to Savannah, TN where they were both teachers for a time at Central High School. She left teaching to serve as Hardin County’s Juvenile Court Officer for a number of years before entering the banking profession in which she worked until her retirement. In 1985, she and her family moved to Shelbyville, TN where they lived for ten years before returning to Clarksville in 1995. She was a member of Madison St. Methodist Church in Clarksville and was active in the Andrew Ministry. She had a wide variety of interests including cooking, gardening, playing Canasta and visiting the YMCA but nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with family and friends. Those who knew her will miss her kind and caring spirit and bright, welcoming smile. JoAnne was preceded in death by her parents Gilbert and Margaret and her husband, A.D. Surviving are sons Shane and Corey, daughter-in-law Erica Lee Haines and granddaughter Rosemary who was the light of her world in her later years.
A celebration of her life will be held at the chapel of McReynolds, Nave & Larson Funeral Home in Clarksville on the afternoon of February 8th at 2:00 with visitation from 1:00 to 2:00. Cal Hampton will officiate.
