Not sure what to say?

Very belated condolences. I came across this because I still use one of Elsa´s postcards as a bookmark and thought I would ring her. Elsa was our neighbor at 636 NW 20th when we first moved to PDX. She helped us a lot and we had fun running wires through the walls and back hallway of our apartments so that she could use our internet. We shared not only internet, but also our mutual contempt of George Bush Junior and she never forgot to leave us her well-used/read NYT. Nice ones always...

Elsa, such a vibrant friend, a light in our lives' window. Her smile and her great laugh deepened the time we spent together. I thought we had all the time in the world. I was wrong. Sending sympathy to Elsa's family. Virginia in the Hudson Valley, March 2019

Elsa, We will miss you always. Thank you for being in my life.

Elsa was a client when I sold ad pages for the Illustration Book and we became friends. We shared and supported each other thru many trials and tribulation - men, work, finances, growing up, growing old. We didn't talk for the longest time and I called her in 2012. Tonite I just thought about her and wondered. Fly high, Elsa. You are an original and my honor to have been your friend. Your eggplants still delight me and I have the watercolor still hanging on
my wall - which you did...

Sending you my fondest thoughts of Elsa. Years ago I was lucky enough to write press releases for her directed at the editors of illustration and publishing journals. Gentle. So amazingly gifted. I am very glad to have known her.

I'm sorry I'm so late in finding out this news. Elsa was a sweet friend of mine with a great sense of humor. We had our share of good times together. We laughed a lot. I miss her. Goodbye, Elsa. Matt and/or Milan, please contact me. [email protected]

My brother Drew had a special relationship with Elsa as an art teacher at OES, so she made me feel special as well. Drew is now a practicing artist in Northeastern Wasshington State. [email protected]

I'm seeing a number of tributes from classmates, who clearly felt her impact as I did, and the memories are clear. Though I grew up with my own personal art teacher in the house (my father) I learned many techniques in Mrs. Erceg's classes... (I don't think I ever called her Elsa!)....calligraphy, bookbinding, clay sculpture...on and on... I loved her spirit, equal treatment to all (talented and not so) and basic sense of joie de vivre. It is a loss to Portland and the community she...
