Elsie F. Barberis

BARBERIS, Elsie F. - Of Davison, formerly of White Pigeon, age 92, died Sunday, December 18, 2005 at Genesys Convalescent Center in Grand Blanc. Private services were held at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Elsie was born in Ispheming, Michigan on December 29, 1912 and was a resident of White Pigeon, Michigan from 1934 until she moved to the Flint area in the early 1980's. She enjoyed traveling, and wintering in Orange Beach and Gulf Shores. Family gatherings where a highlight for her. She was a great cook, especially her ethnic food for the holidays. Elsie instilled in her children the ability to "Think for themselves". Surviving are 2 daughters, Doris West, Onekama, MI, Sandra Hayes of Davison, MI; 2 sons, Randall Barberis of California, John Barberis of Livonia; 5 grandchildren, David West, Jacqueline Carney, Walter West, Jonathon Barberis and Stephanie Barberis; 6 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters, Helmie Kinnunen, Sigrid Isaacson and Edna Crosby; brother, Donald Kahila. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; sister, Sylvia Walker; brothers, Onnie Kahila and Renio Kahila; grandson, Richard Perry; son-in-law, Bill West. The family wishes to thank the staff at Thurlow's Adult Assisted Living in Davison for the wonderful care they gave to Elsie.
