I am so sorry I did not know your Mom had passed away until just now when I looked through the past obits. Your folks were wonderful friends when they lived here in our ward in Sandy. Our kids and you kids grew up together and have great memories also. They did so much for the enjoyment of all. They are missed here, but Heaven gains a special couple.

I was cutting out an article on the Golden Toaster from a friend who had given me the Deseret News for that purpose. I live in Logan and do I do not take the Deseret News up here. I happened to glance at the obituaries wondering if I knew anyone, but doubting it because I had been away from my Midvale home since 1967. Then I saw Elsie's picture. I recognized the name immediately from her being the mother in the Days of 47 pageant back in the 60's in the tabernacle. I have thought of her...

Shauna and I have fond memories of Elsie and Ken dancing with us at the Fun Time Squares in Draper, Utah where I was the caller. We remember how great they looked together in their matching Square Dance outfits. They had great smiles. We enjoyed their fun and friendship. We miss those great times we had together. We send our sincere sympathies.

My memories of my Aunt Elsie are very special to me. She was a very loveable and caring person and it was such fun to be with her and Uncle Ken. Once when I visited them she taught me to drink goats milk and even though I hated the taste of it, I did it just for her. Uncle Ken and her were very involved with the Sons of the Pioneers and we especially enjoyed going with them to the Hole in the Rock on one of the outings. Elsie became my Aunt when I married her nephew Herman Clark Simon. She was always a ray of sunshine as her smile just lit up the space around her. Her vivacious personality and delightful zest for life was so contagious and she made everything fun. We enjoyed the Sons of the Pioneers excursions that we went on with her and Uncle Ken.
