Not sure what to say?

I was saddened to read of Dr. Cooney's passing. I had the pleasure of being one of her students at DeKalb College, and had been one of those students she asked to come to her home as the guest of her and Steve. She had a wonderful wit, a marvelous understanding of the connections across history with current events. RIP Elvia and Steve. You're missed. - Ed Shelnutt

To the family of Dr Cooney:
I was saddened to learn about your mother. She and I worked together at DeKalb Community College for many years.
As a person who freely spoke her mind,
always with kindness and intelligent insight, she was a delight to be around and I enjoyed our association very much.
Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. You and she will be in my prayers. May God bless you all.

Stephen,Barbara and Paul-I am sorry to hear of your mother's death. She is at peace and with your Dad.I regret that I could not attend the funeral;however you were in my thoughts.I knew your whole family very well.In fact, I was one of your babysitters. My Dad was Rev.Honold.Whenever one or all of you are in New Orleans please give Dani and I a call.Dani told me that you have her phone number. We can go out to dinner and take a walk down Memory Lane.

I was very saddened to read of the passing of Dr. Cooney. Although I haven't seen or spoken to you all in over forty years, I have fond memories of the family from my youth. Mr. Steve was my youth baseball coach, Barbara and I were classmates, and Paul and I were basketball teammates at Stone Mountain High. Dr. Cooney was even my Faculty advisor for a while at DeKalb College. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. May God be with the family in this difficult time.
