Captain Elwood Euart you died not only an American Hero but the greatest hero to the Vanuatu Nation!! You're courageous action and bravery will live on in the hearts and minds of every Ni-vanuatu people and our generation to come!! To families of all the other soldiers serving in Vanuatu during WWII, I would like to convey our deepest sympathies and gratitude to you!! Its my prayer and wish that someday I will meet you all the families and relatives of our Hero serving in Espiritu Santo...

Welcome home, Captain Euart, and thank you for your service. All of Pawtucket is proud of your heroism and selflessness.
Rest in Peace at long last with your loving parents.

My dad, Bill Fusco, was on the Coolidge that fateful day and often told me how terrified he and the crew were. Captain Euart saved my dad's life and I am forever grateful. I am happy that he is finally home. He will be in my prayers.

So grateful for the selfless actions of Captain Euart on the Coolidge. The story of that day was told many times in my family as I was growing up, as my Dad, Joseph Henry Redman, was onboard the Coolidge during the sinking and often told the story of coming down the ropes over the side of the ship, and of how terrified all of the guys were. Captain Euart was a true hero.

This man is a true American hero. He is the reason we are able to live free in this great country. Hopefully, he will receive ,the Medal of Honor for his bravery. Rest in peace Captain Euart.

Elwood Vallee and family,
I too share memories of our childhood selling poppies in our Cub Scout uniforms on Veterans Day and Memorial Day in honor of your uncle and the Euart Post.
He is a true RI hero.

Thank you for your service. You are truly an american hero. My dad was on the USS Coolidge that day. He passed away in 2011 and on his behalf my family is forever greatful to you. My dad told your story to our family many times to ensure that you were not forgotten. I wish he could be here to welcome you home.
God Bless & RIP
