Elwood "Pete" Hester

 

HESTER, Elwood “Pete” - Of Flint, age 90, died Thursday, January 3, 2019 at his residence.

 

A memorial service will be held 5pm Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,

 

Minister Caroline “Sue” Judd officiating.

 

Per Pete’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

 

Those desiring may make contributions to a charity of one’s choice.

 

Visitation 12-3pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

 

Elwood was born in Genesee Township, Michigan on October 1, 1928, the son of the late Elwood and Gladys (Price) Hester. On August 5, 1950, he married Katherine Buffey. Elwood retired from General Motors in 1988. He enjoyed bowling, hunting and belonged to a travel club.

 

Surviving are wife, Katherine;

 

sons, Keith and wife Jeannine Hester and Kevin Hester;

 

grandchildren, Ryan and wife Celia Hester, Ciara and husband Jonathan Gifford and Robyn Hester;

 

great-grandchildren, Landon and Ava Gifford;

 

brothers, Franklin Hester, Jerry and wife Georgia Hester;

 

sisters, Velma and husband Chuck Buss and Caroline Judd;

 

many nieces and nephews;

 

brother-in-law, Cletus Hawtin and sister-in-law, Ruth Mead.

 

He was preceded in death by brothers, Leslie Hester, Douglas Hester, sisters, Irene Hawtin, Sherry Riley and brother-in-law, Larry Judd.
