As a child I could hardly wait to see my beautiful uncle coming down the hill at zaza’s house with his luminous Cadillac and sugary southern smile.
My heart always melted when he said, “Hey princess come give your uncle Manuel a kiss”. He was my uncle of silky-smooth love and endless moments of laughter.
I will miss you dearly and keep your spirit alive.

For my fifth birthday, my parents took me out to eat for the first time. We went to Constantine's. That was quite a few presidents ago, but I still remember it. Every time someone talks about great Birmingham landmarks, Constantine's always comes up. That's quite a legacy!
