Emery Fisher Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 5, 2018.
Emery Roy Fisher, 66, succumbed to congestive heart failure on January 4, 2018, in Austin, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Anne (Gidget), his daughter Marcie and her husband Wayne Pruski, daughters Blakely and Tara, and grandchildren Meghan, Ben, Colin, Emery Austin and Cole, sister Joan Weaver and (Ed) and brother Alan (Carroll). He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marquita Hubbard.

Emery was born on March 2,1951, in Rising Star, Texas to Aaron and Johnnie Belle Fisher. His family moved to San Antonio where he graduated from Harlandale High School. He then put himself through college and graduated from University of Texas, with a BA in accounting and finance. He became a Certified Public Account and worked with Cooper & Lybrand. He was an associate of the Rust Group. He later consulted with Stan Studer of San Antonio. Along with Fisher Equities he also created Caprock Healthcare with partner, Allan Chalberg.

Emery's passion was golf, it was a very rare weekend if he was not on the course and every Thursday at the Dogfight. He loved the The University of Texas Longhorns so much he would not only attend the game but come home immediately and watched the recording. He loved spending time at his family homestead "The Place" in De Leon, where he spent many weekends with family and friends. Above all, he had a strong love of music. His mother taught him how to play the piano and though he did learn to read sheet music, he mostly played by ear. In the evening you would hear The Beatles, Beach Boys, Dire Strait and his mother's favorite song, the Black Hawk Waltz, streaming throughout the house. He had a wonderful sense of humor and his laughter was infectious.

The family has so many people to thank for helping Emery throughout the years. Dr Jim Chapin, Dr. Ed Chafizadeha, Dr. Mary Beth Ciscek, Saul Benitez, PA, BSN, Dr. John Dieck, the staff at HEB Westlake Pharmacy: Royd, Ian, Cindy, CJ, Brendan, Mary, Trey, Megan, KiKi, Darla. Extra special thanks to Dr. Shane Bailey who understood talking golf was very therapeutic for the heart. A very special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of St. David's South Austin Cardiac ICU, a remarkable group of professionals. Finally, thank you to the Austin/Travis EMS Team for providing the needed services and for visiting us at the hospital.

Services will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, January 6th, at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church at 8134 Mesa Drive, Austin, TX 78759 with a reception following.

Flowers are appreciated or if preferred, contributions can be made to the MPAC program of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church or to the charity of choice.

I am saddened to hear of Emery's passing. I always remember him as being funny and the one who always had the last joke before going into class. A lot of fun memories but a lot of tears for this day. He is resting in heavenly peace free from all pain..
Prayers and blessings for the family.

My sympathies to the family. Emery was a super guy whom I met in Junior High and graduated with at Harlandale. Rest easy, my friend
