Emil frequently called the newspaper to suggest story ideas, which we most always printed. Usually it was about someone he had come in contact with who had a particular talent or story. He often called about his son, Terrence, when there was news afoot, but he wanted his name kept out of it, making it hard to write a story without naming a source. He once invited me to stop by his home and see the prestigious Golden Bear award that Terrence had received and given to his dad. I did stop by and...

Mr. Malick was my choir director at St. Lukes when I was a young girl. He was certainly a task master that demanded excellence, but also a dear, sweet man. He had a tremedous influence on my love of music. My best to the Malick family.
