Emilia Sylvia “Bibi” Biosca, 80, of East Hartford, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, December 10, 2018 after losing her battle with uterine cancer. She was born in Havana, Cuba on November 3, 1938 to the late Emilia and Eduardo Biosca. She attended the Ursuline Academy in Miramar, Havana and immigrated to the United States on October 23, 1960. She began her banking career of over 40 years at First National City Bank on Wall St. in New York. In 1970 she moved her family from New Jersey to Connecticut and continued in the banking field at CBT for 16 years, later transferring to Prospect Plaza as a personal banker. After retiring from Fleet Bank she was employed by Savings Bank of Manchester for 10 years.
For the last 33 years she has called East Hartford her home. She always has had a passion for cooking, playing the piano, watching Spanish novelas with her daughter, and singing Cuban lullabies to her great- grandchildren. Her greatest joy of all was watching her grandchildren grow up, and over the years she became a grandmother to all their friends and families. Everyone knew her as “Bibi,” a nickname given to her by her eldest granddaughter.
Emilia is survived by her daughter Emily (De La Noval) Campanelli, her son Agustin De La Noval and his wife Caterina (Crugliano); her grandchildren Amanda (Campanelli) Bradley and her husband William, Emily (Campanelli) Mangiafico and her husband Antonio, Samantha (De La Noval) Chamberlain and her husband Graham; her great-grandchildren Lorenzo and Liliana Mangiafico; and her beloved dogs Sophie and Mollie. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son-in-law Thomas Campanelli.
On behalf of the family, they would like to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation to her doctor, hospice nurses, and aides of Hartford Healthcare at Home that assisted with her care over the past couple of months.
