Not sure what to say?

Sometimes we fail to realize that our time together here on earth is limited. We too often take it for granted as we did with Emilie. As she was receiving treatment at UAB, we seldom stopped to think she might not come home and hoped that a cure was around the corner. Wish we could go back and do it again. Our youth minister said it best.... Live Love Loud...take advantage of every opportunity. Emilie was a special person, with a unique personality, a contaigous laugh and a very unusual...

I worked with Emilie at Windham Elementary in Daleville. She was such a joy to work with. She made such an impact on so many of our lives. My deepest sympathies go out to the Schmidt family as well as Buzzy. You are all in my prayers.

I had the honor of working beside Emilie for one year and during that time she became a dear sweet friend.I was so taken by her caring and gentle love for her students, she was truly a remarkable teacher. I am proud to have known her and call her a true friend. I am so very sorry for Buzzy and her family , I will keep you all in my prayers. Emilie will be missed by all she touched. May God Bless you all.

It was a great honor to work with Emily in First Grade for two years at Highlands Elementary School. She was a dedicated teacher who loved her students and always wanted the best for them. She would always decorate her room in every theme during the year and provide special treats and gifts for her students. She was also loved by her students and parents. Emily fought her illness with so much strength and courage. She meant she was going to fight with all her might and not give up---and...

I had the honor of working along-side Emilie at Highlands Elementary School for one year. She was much more than my co-worker; she was my "True, Dear Friend." I spoke with Emilie this past summer while she was in the hospital in Alabama awaiting a bone marrow transplant. She was in good spirits and very positive! I thought I had more time with “my buddy. That's the lesson we all need to take from this; “Cherish our loved ones and do not take the time we have with them for...

Emilie was a precious person. I had the honor of teaching first grade with her at Windham Elementary School. She was a devoted teacher who loved all of her students. She also had a charming wit about her that I just loved. Emilie will definitely be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with her parents, Buzzy, and the rest of her family.
