Not sure what to say?

I worked closely with Gene & his staff at the California Energy Commission. He used to call me Mr. Methanol as I was the Office Manager for the Synthetic Fuels Office in The Development Division at CEC. Gene was a strong supporter of my program. He used to tease me for my aggressive promotion & said I would get arrested for my actions. As a former US Army combat helicopter pilot & Vietnam Veteran we had a lot in common to. My wife & I enjoyed the fabulous Christmas Parties at his home in the...

We share in your grief. We are here for you and remember all of the good times we had with you and Gene.

Stars of Life Standing Spray

Gene was a mentor and friend to me since he taught a course at UC Berkeley in 1981, after which I went to work for him at the California Energy Commission as a graduate student assistant, and we continued working together for many years. He was one of the most insightful people I've ever known in terms of being able to pull different threads together into a useful big picture. I'm so glad I was able to visit him last summer, and speak to him about a week ago. He will be dearly missed.

As a classmate and company mate at USNA it was always an enjoyable break to have talk about almost anything with "Doc" as he always made you think.

Gene, you were our constant and unwavering friend and adviser and a giant amongst us in your service to our country and our communities. Giovanna we are distraught at your loss and our loss, and with heavy hearts we mourn the passing of a great man.

Emilio was our first cousin. In reading of his many accomplishments in life we are sure that his Italian and Irish immigrant grandparents would be so proud. He made the world a better place. Wishing you the comfort of remembering the happy memories you shard of him. Carol (Moriarty)Keelerand Kathleen (Moriarty)Davison

Gene was an awesome man. My wife Nina and I moved in with them a few months ago to help take care of Gene in his declining months and it has been nothing but a pleasure to do so. Gene always had interesting experiences to share and was one of the most intelligent people I have ever had the privilege to know. He will be sadly missed by many.
