Not sure what to say?

Walter, my dear old friend, there really are no words that can comfort you in the loss of your wonderful Valerie and your cherished Emily. You were blessed to have these two flowers in your life however briefly. God rest them in peace, and comfort you in their memory. Norman.

Walter, Jackson and family, I am stunned and so very sorry to hear of Emily's passing. Her light will shine bright and strong for others to see for ages to come. I wish I had known her. Her strength and courage are a loving tribute to you and Valerie, Jackson, and family and friends. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Emily will live on in the hearts of those who knew her and loved her.

Dear Walter,
I came upon Emily's obituary accidently, and am so sorry to learn of her death, and also of Valerie's. My heart goes out to both you and Jackson. Although many years have passed since I've seen you, I still hold you all in a special place in my heart. My deepest condolences...

Sincerely,
Linda Foley Roth

I heard about Emily when her friend Jarrah and I started nursing school together 3 years ago. What an inspiration. Hearing all that she had accomplished while dealing with such a dreadful disease was amazing. Then to hear about her mom's passing made us so sad. Keeping your family in our thoughts.

when i read dianne williamson's column about emily, i was completelu awed and humbled by her courage. i,m a lucky and much older cancer survuvor and didn,t display half the strength and dignity as she did. walter, i knew you back in the gilreins days. i wish you and your loved ones peace in the days ahead.

We were fortunate that our son and Emily were fast friends as children. Her kindness, imagination, and radiant intelligence brought joy to us all. They were both very independent - I remember them calling to each other, "We can do anything we want!" "Yes! We can do anything we want!"
Walter, our hearts go out to you and Jackson and everyone who loved Emily. It is an incomprehensible and tragic loss. Our deepest condolescences - we'll always keep her in our memory.

Walter, my old friend, how can I express the depth of my sympathy for you?

Your consolation must be in the fact that your life was touched -and you were loved- by two such beautiful and remarkable women.

Emily's special smile will keep everyone giving their all in their lives! Truly an honor to have spent time for her and her wonderful family...
