Not sure what to say?

I continue to be thankful for Cathy's having taken over our TESOL class at EMU. I was an older student, contemplating a change in career - which I ended up not making, despite how much I enjoyed her course. She was a fine teacher and such a gracious person. Those qualities were of utmost importance to me, as I came to a decision: As fascinated as I was with the field, I didn't make a change. I have not regretted my decision, and I remain grateful for her wise guidance.

Cathy brought humor and joy whenever I met with her or sat in sessions with her at TESOL Conventions. She cared for the ESL profession and was dedicated to helping young professionals become excellent teachers. She was a good cheerleader and she will be missed.

I have just learned from the Peace Corps Association of Cathy's passing. I knew Cathy many years as we were TESOL colleagues. A lasting impression is that every encounter that I had with her left me lighter--her sense of humor and her laugh, which she enjoyed herself--will always be in my memory. I shall miss her.

Met Cathy at the Corner Brewery and had many great discussions with her. She was great lady and a load of fun to be around. She will truly be missed by many people.

We spent many wonderful weekends and convention times together. She was such a good friend to so many of us!

Cathy was always the first to make a new friend, colleague or neighbor feel welcome

Cathy took over a class in TESOL that I was taking at EMU. She was filling in for a colleague who had become terminally ill. Her knowledge, wisdom, and kindness saved the day for me, and for the other students in the class. I will always be grateful.

When I think of Cathy, I hear her laugh which was robust, warm and reflective of her enjoyment of others and life. She was always encouraging of others and ready for a good adventure. I will miss her.
