Emily de la Cruz

Emily made the world a better place through her marvelous teaching in the PSU School of Education. She brought humor and insight to the classes she taught. I was her student in my middle years, only two years her junior, it was a pleasure to sit in her classes as she gently prodded us to become better educators. I have been blessed to have had a friendship with her. My heart goes out to her family.

My love & prayers go out to all of Emily's extended family. Though I am better acquainted w/Emily's one sister, Becky and her Mom, Dottie, I certainly enjoyed meeting Emily and hearing of her accomplishments in her career and life. She had such a beautiful smile and I will always remember that welcoming smile. May her new granddaughter reflect the same beauty and grace.

I am so sad to hear of Emily's passing. We were not fast friends. But for several years before she stopped emailing, we would meet for lunch several times a year. We met at the Oregon Symphony.
