Emily Gates

Emily Dionne Gates was born on September 17,1954 in Wynne, AR to her parents, the late Sammie Lee Walton and the late Katie Cox.  Emily transitioned on July 31, 2022 surrounded by her loved ones. 

 
 In her early childhood, Emily accepted Christ and  she was a member of Union Valley Missionary Baptist Church. Later in life, she became a member of Christian Fellowship Church. 
 
Emily graduated from Wynne High School in 1972. She continued her education at Crowley's Ridge Institute where she obtained a license practical nursing degree. Emily worked at  Crestpark Nursing Home, Cross County Hospital, Crittenden Memorial Hospital and River Ridge Nursing Facility. For thirty years, Emily was a devoted nurse. She was a hardworking, committed, compassionate and empathetic toward the patients she served on a daily basis.
 
Emily enjoyed planting flowers, watching TV,listening to music, sewing, baking and sharing her knowledge and wisdom with her loved ones.  We will miss her beautiful smile and laugh. 
 
She is preceded in death by her parents, Sammie Lee Walton and Katie Cox, her three brothers: Johnny Williams, Robert Williams and James Abraham and her two sisters: Bobbie Williams and Izora Head.
 
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughters ,Phebe Cox and Felicia McGill of Wynne, AR and Denicha Gates of Memphis, TN ,two sons; Dedric Cox( Alicia) and Daniel Gates( Shauna) both of Conway, AR. her grandchildren: Xavier, Nijah, Layla, Nijohn, Alexis, Alivia, Nizaya, Drew, Ashley, Jonathan, Courtney and two great grandsons Zahir and Cayden, one sister, Mary Cox-Sims( Thomas) of West Memphis, AR ,two brothers Terry Cox( Diane) of Aubrey, TX and Ervin Cox( Tonya) of Duncan, Oklahoma, one aunt Okater Cox of Wynne, AR and nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. 

Memorial Service is at 2:00 pm Saturday August 6th at Woodard Funeral Service (Wynne).
