Emily was our neighbor when we lived on Harding, but she was so much more than that to our family. She was a sister to my mother, and she was a grandmother to my brother and me. She made us feel as though we were part of her family. I remember when her grandkids would come to visit from other parts of the country.... or Canada, I was always there, probably making a nuisance of myself, but Emily didn't seem to mind.
