Emily Jean Marsh of Lamar, SC, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2015 at McLeod Hospice House. Jean Marsh was born in Camden, S.C. on September 9, 1939 and was one of ten children born to Mary Jackson Ray and George Neil Ray. Her childhood was spent in Camden, culminating in her graduation from high school in 1957. Jean was swept off her feet by Kenneth Donald Marsh, a soldier stationed at Fort Jackson, and after a whirlwind romance they were married on March 23, 1959. This was a marriage of 56 amazing years. A devoted wife and mother they spent their years together working and raising their children throughout the United States, ultimately returning home to South Carolina settling in Florence and Lamar attending church at Pine Grove Baptist Church and West Florence Baptist Church, respectively. Jean is preceded in death by her parents Mary and George; her brothers: Stan, Otis, Tony, Ralph, and Sammy. Her Sisters: Barbara, Kate, and Thelma, and her beloved son Christopher Wayne Marsh. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Marsh, her sister, Doris La Mountain of Topeka, KS; her children, Tammy Marsh of Lamar, SC; Angie Ellis (Danny) of Greensboro NC; Donna Dunlap (Scott) of Billings, MT; Kenneth Marsh Jr (April Denise) of Gaston, SC; Nancy Martin (Danny) of Darlington, SC; and Jackie Marsh of Lamar, SC. Jean is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Tommy Marsh, Christian Ellis, Jimmy Zimmerman, Austin Riffle, Courtney Zimmerman, Alex Gause, Mary Kate Riffle, Haley Martin, Christopher Dunlap and Landon Martin. A private memorial is scheduled at home in Lamar the 21st of August following cremation which has been arranged by Cain-Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home.
