Emma Jean Rubush, age 75 – a lifelong resident of Elwood, died August 9, 2010 at Community Hospital in Anderson following an extended illness. She was born April 8, 1935 in Elwood. She was a Homemaker most of her life, and formerly worked at the Elwood Call-Leader, Leeson’s Department Store, and Viewpoint. She was a 1954 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School. She married Lester C. Rubush on June 20, 1958. She attended the First United Methodist Church in Elwood, and formerly attended the Main Street Wesleyan Church and Central Wesleyan Churches in Elwood. She was a member of the W.O.E. Card Club. She enjoyed flowers, fishing, camping, and spending time with children. She was known for always having a smile on her face.

Survivors include: Son – Kevin Rubush of Elwood; 2 Brothers – Robert and wife Kathy Rebuck of Elwood and Tom and wife Pam Rebuck of Alexandria; Sister-in-law – Joyce and husband Fred Keown of Swayzee; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: Parents – Charles Elmer and Alma (Bauer) Rebuck; and Husband who died December 19, 1999 – Lester C. Rubush.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Matt Miller of the Central Wesleyan Church officiating. Private burial will take place in the Elwood City Cemetery on Friday, August 13, 2010. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 PM Thursday, August 12, 2010 prior to the funeral at the funeral home. I was so sorry to hear about Emma Jean. I hadn't seen her in several years and one day recently I went to the beauty shop and she was there. We had a nice conversation.

I was sad to hear of Emma Jean passing away, we had the please of living next to her for a couple of years and it was always a pleasure to see her smiling face. She will be missed dearly and was a great women.

I was sorry to hear about Emma! You know she was my favorite neighbor on D St. I thought of her often and cherish the great memories I have of her! I loved going to Emma's house. If mom and dad didn't know where i was, chances were I was at Emma's!
