Mr. Melton was a great help to my mother in providing information on the farm location in Cassville of my GGG Grandfather Littlebury Mason, the first Missouri Senator of Barry County who died prior to the Civil War in 1852. His wife had hosted both Union and Confederate officers during the war, but during the march from Fayetteville to Springfield Union soldiers burned their home as they did every other home on the march in addition to the Barry County Courthouse in Cassville where the...
