STEVENS, Emory Marvin, passed away peacefully in his home on the morning of November 29, 2012. Born May 16, 1939, he was attended to in his final days by his surviving children, Peyton E. Stevens of Gum Spring, Va., and Stacy M. Stevens of Rockbridge Baths, Va.; a host of friends, including Gail Smith of Hadensville, Va., Alfreda Hatcher of Maidens, Va., Allison Bowles of Richmond, Va.; and many representatives from Hospice Care of Virginia. In addition to his children, Mr. Stevens is survived by six grandchildren,
Peyton E. Stevens II of Mechanicsville, Va., Austin M. Stevens of Powhatan, Va., Matthew P. and Grace E. Stevens of Maidens, Va., and Indira S. and Layton M. Stevens of Rockbridge Baths, Va.; and three sisters, Margaret Keyser of Colonial Heights, Va., Elsie Scott of Lancaster, Va., and Jeannie Chubb of Kilmarnock, Va. Emory was an accomplished carpenter who worked for 23 years at Union Presbyterian Seminary (UPS) in Richmond, Va. He was preceded in death by his son, Matthew E. Stevens, also a longtime employee of UPS. A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, December 2, 4 p.m., at Mealy Funeral Home, 2530 Dogtown Road, Goochland, Va. 23063. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Virginia, 1700 Bayberry Court, Richmond, Va. 23226.
