The history of San Luis Obispo city and county in the early 1900s echoed to the sights and sounds of a population which counted European immigrants, especially from Switzerland, Portugal, and Italy. The venerable accordion in the hands of immigrant musicians was a colorful part of community life. When Enrico Bongio arrived in San Luis Obispo, he revived that precious memory. For that, Enrico earned a lasting place in the history of San Luis Obispo.

Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and the World have just lost one of the most remarkable people. I first met Enrico at Cal Poly in 1960 as a student in his welding class. I really tested his patience with my welding skills. Over the decades, there have been many accordionists in San Luis Obispo. Two stand out: Ed Wisneski and Enrico Bongio. Our condolences to his family on his passing. (I believe one of his childre worked for GE?)

Our heartfelt condolences to the entire family. Our family has lived a couple doors up the street from the Bongio family for about 50 years. They are, and have always been wonderful neighbors of the very best kind. Our street will never be the same without him. Sincerely, Grace, and Vern Pascal

Condolences to the family from Rose Haupt, ICF Branch member 291 in Arroyo Grande. Enrico transferred to our branch and he was a delightful person to get to know. Especially enjoyed his musical talents at our special events.

Sorry for your loss. Please know that God is close to the brokenhearted (Ps 34: 18). He will help you to endure.

Our deepest sympathy to the entire Bongio family. We are good friends of Vince and Nadine and former neighbors. We met Mr and Mrs Bongio when they came to Syracuse and enjoyed their visits. So very sorry for your loss. Bob and Cindy Keyes

My deepest condolences to Aldo in the loss of his beloved brother. I have fond memories of Enrico playing at my sister's wedding reception in Avila Beach in 1982.

My condolences to the entire Bongio family. I have worked with Vince for 25 years and I can only imagine what a great man Enrico was based on the quality of his family.
Our sincere sympathy.
