Spinelli - Ricciuti Funeral Home - Ansonia Obituary

ANSONIA: Enrico Mongillo, age 91, entered into eternal rest on Thanksgiving morning, November 25, 2021, in the comfort of his home, with his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Grace Izzo Mongillo.

Mr. Mongillo was born in Puglianello, Province of Benevento, Italy on September 13, 1930, son of the late Antonio and Maria Anna Mongillo. He came to the United States in September 1959 and settled in Ansonia after marrying his wife. A resident of Ansonia for many years, he was employed as a cabinet maker and later at the former Ansonia Copper & Brass for thirty-eight years, until his retirement in 1998. He was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia where he was a member of the Catholic Men’s Club, St. Padre Pio Prayer Group and bocce league. Enrico was a former member of the Sons of Italy in Derby and enjoyed gardening, wine making and was a true “jack of all trades.”

He leaves to cherish his memory, grandsons, Cameron T. Cirisoli (Lauren) of Ansonia, Justin H. Cirisoli (Stefan) of Naugatuck, and Noah F. Cirisoli (Karli Reynolds) of Ansonia, great-grandson, Caleb Skiparis of Ansonia, sons-in-law, Raymond A. Cirisoli of Ansonia, with whom he made his home, and Daniel H. Holt of Wethersfield, many special nieces and nephews especially his beloved niece Anna Fetta of Puglianello, Italy and her sons, Fiorigio Fetta of Hamden, and Domenico Fetta of Scandiano, Italy, and many friends especially his dear friend, Michelina Maida of Ansonia. He was predeceased by his daughters, Michele B. Holt and Mariann M. Cirisoli, brothers, Massimo, Francesco, Guido and Alfredo Mongillo and sisters, Michelina Mongillo and Candida Renzi.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. Masks will be required for entry into the funeral home. On Tuesday, November 30, 2021, all are invited to meet directly at 11:00 am at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia for a Mass of Christian Burial. Not sure what to say?

I really thank you from the heart we did not expect it. It was an honor. My family was close to zio

Our hearts go out to Ray and the kids. This has been an unkind year to you. (Lorenzo is the neighbor, and I am the girlfriend.) I wanted to share with you my memories of Enrico. He was so talkative and so friendly. He and Lorenzo were always talking. When Lorenzo--I call him Lance--first told me about Enrico, when Lance bought the house next door, he told me Oh My God, he's my grandfather. Lance's grandfather was also from Italy, also gardened, also made wine. I have so many...

Such a tremendous loss to our family...with love and respect to Uncle Enrico.

Prayers for the family.
