Epke Vander Berg

The Vander Bergs were instrumental for our family emigrating from Harkema to GrandRapids in 1955. Most helpful and kind after our family of seven arrived. I was fortunate to talk with Epke weekly discussing the wellbeing of our families at his Forest Hills morning coffee. Even practiced speaking Frisian with him. We both enjoyed this brief time together for many years. Grateful to him and to the Vander Berg family for their support and friendship. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I remember "Eddie" coming to Baldwin Christian School in 5th grade when he and his family first arrived in the States. In those days, we did not have "Dutch" or "English" immersion classes and he came right into the school, sat in class and learn English that way. Sympathy and prayer for his family in these days of sadness.
