Not sure what to say?

I thought about Dr. Atasoy this evening while watching the news of the devastating Earthquake in Turkey. I was a R.N. and worked with him in Surgery at Jewish Hospital and then in the hand office. He always called me Miss Mickie and was a kind and wonderful Doctor and gentleman. I pray tonight for the people of Turkey, I know that would be what Dr. Atasoy would want.

I worked with Dr Atasoy for many years assisting him doing 1st rib resections for Thoracic outlet syndrome. We listened to a great deal of Baroque music and he would often have fellows ask, 'What are the indications for this procedure'. He would answer 'Blue Cross, Blue Shield'. He would also refer to new fellows as being "Strong as a bull, but twice as smart". He would bring out old books showing surgeons doing techniques from years ago that were new to residents, showing his history of the...

Awesome Doctor and person. He expected people to do their best, give their best but, not more then what he himself would do.

Dr. Atasoy was my surgeon in 2011 where he performed Thoracic outlet compression surgery. I will never forget Dr.Atasoy and his famous saying "Your Fired". Dr. Atasoy was a loving and caring Doctor that put his patients a high priority of caring for them. I will miss him greatly, I know he is in heaven looking over his patients that he helped over his career. May God look over his family and friends. Dr. Atasoy was the greatest surgeon that I've known, I expect other surgeon's to be like him....

A wonderful grandpa that always cared about me

A wonderful physician who was caring and compassionate towards his patients. He was amusing also at times which made me look forward to seeing him in the office. He knew his patients depended on him, what a great man. You will be forever remembered.

I am sad to hear of your loss. My dad, Dr. Mehmet Arik (married to Sevim) lived in Louisville and practiced medicine here since 1958. My father also was from Istanbul and my mom was from Izmir. My parents knew the Atasoy family and held the utmost respect for this wonderful family and Dr. Atasoy's excellence in medicine. May God be with your family. My prayers are with your family and Dr. Atasoy. Leyla Arik Hanson

An irreplaceable person.

I worked with Don for many years at Jewish Hospital. An accomplished surgeon , a gentleman, and an all around good guy. He will be missed.
