My heartfelt condolences to the family of a former icon of Zion Lutheran Church and School, Bay City. He never taught me, but I nonetheless learned from him.

Dear Mary and Shirley.
Few teachers have impacted the lives of so many as your father did. I cannot sing some Easter hymns without moving my feet because we practiced the processional so much. I am sure he is directing a choir in heaven and telling them to correct their posture and sing out.
I know you girls took such good care of your dad and I will miss him when I go to my brother's house.

How blessed I was to have known you since my teenage years and to have spent a few hours only this past September chatting with you. You were an inspiration to my music making in praise of our Lord for more than 50 years. I pray that my work as a church musician impacts as many worshippers as yours did.
