Wow, nearly 11 years since you left us Eric.
Thought about you yesterday on Memorial day and it makes me sad to see how all this pointless fighting only takes away from our humanity and never gives us anything positive.
Every day that passes makes it more difficult to see how any of this is worth it.
I'm not a religious man, so I don't believe you'll get these messages, but as I am often in life, I may be wrong and hope you know you are missed, even now so many years later....

I knew Eric in Augsburg and Darmstadt, Germany. We both shared a love of military history and we talked more about the local Kasernes and such most of the time on shift when we were not working. He was one of the good guys I got to know and the only person I know that died in Iraq. I think of him every Memorial Day. It is such a loss for all that knew him. My heart goes out to his family and sons that will not have him in their lives anymore. I still have photos of our trip to Verdun when...
