A great guy who i have fond memories of from our scouting days, although one less fond memory was a cuppa tea he made while we was painting the church entrance of St Richards.. i have to say THE worst cuppa tea i have ever had. He often led the campfire singalong of "ilkley moor bah tat" along with that other northerner we had Simon Dunning. Sad to hear of his passing and wish all the "bashers" left behind all the best.

Where to start? What a man, a great influence on my life when I was a young lad at 1st Three Bridges. He never did ever 'bash' any of the Scouts, he got his nick name from his prodigious ability with a sledgehammer, banging in giant pegs for the marquee or giant staves for the anchor of his amazing aerial runways at Scout camp.
