It was a shock to learn of Eric’s passing.. It was a privilege to have been associated with him both professionally and personally, the experience for which I will always be grateful. He set very high ethical standards and he applied an uncompromising integrity to everything he did. I will miss the late afternoon discussions that would often stretch into the early morning hours on everything from glass blowing, to people, to places, to books, to languages, to music and to so many other...

I remember the day after Eric realized that baseball pitchers didn't just try to get the ball in (or out of) the strike zone, but actually put spin on the ball to make it drop or fade out as it approached the plate...that was cool...
We had many a good discussion on bass players, history and techniques...
Occasionally I ended up doing what Eric did on a regular basis: working into the dead of night! One night at something like 03:00 I finally figured out a software...

I have never met anyone quite like Eric. He was an exotic bird who didn't quite fit in, but at the same time added an equisite spice to those who met him.
He was a childhood friend of my brother Sven's (as I was and still am with his sister Cheryl). When Eric and Sven were 15, and while the rest of us were concentrated on the splendour of EXPO '67 in Montreal, they went to Norway to be deckhands on the tall ship "Christian Radich". They slept in hammocks and hung from the masts...

Dear Eric and his family,
I am very sorry to hear of Eric's passing. He was an enlightened gentleman and engineer. He was the first person to stand up for doing what was right, regardless of the consequences. As a family you should be very proud of the man Eric was. He was ethical, hard working, and always willing to lend a hand.
We will all miss him.

Happy Belated Birthday Eric,
Seldom were you in San Diego at this time of the year, so the date slipped my mind. You never liked the fuss around birthdays and holidays, but I guess you will have to bear with us now. Your Guest Book is filling up, and we are reaching to each other by sharing memories of you. Until next writing, you will be in my warmest thoughts.

It's your birthday today and you would have been 54. Happy Birthday, Eric. I'm about to be wordy, but couldn't make it any shorter.
I was so looking forward to Christmas and was already making plans for your vegetarian dinners. Your rolls are already in the freezer - I made them before you were due home and made extra so you'd have plenty. Plus, you could always stuff yourself on those if I couldn't come up with anything else.
As your little sister, as we grew up you...
