Eric “Ricky” Johnson, 69 of Hillsville, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2018 at Twin County Regional Hospital. Mr. Johnson was born in Bellows Falls, VT on July 22, 1949. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Johnson, Sr.

Survivors include his mother, Alice G. Johnson of the home; siblings and spouses, Robert Johnson Jr. (Lillian) of Jacksonville, FL, Susan Fansmith (Jack) of Meadowbrook, PA, Sharon Confessore (Gary) of Rockville, MD, and Jeff Johnson (Sharon) of Hillsville; and nieces and nephews, Aby Bethem, Katie Nagle, Jonathan Fansmith, Alicia Fansmith, and Adam Johnson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Woodlawn, VA with Father Charles Brickner officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to United Cerebral Palsy at ucp.org. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.

Dear Johnson Family,
I'm so sorry to learn of Ricky's passing. I remember being a third grader at ICS, where your mom was my teacher. Mrs. Johnson spoke of her family on a daily and one day we took a field trip to meet Ricky.
Ricky and I became fast friends. I remember when I got engaged I went to visit and tell him and he wore a tuxedo to my wedding!!
