ERIC JOSEPH ALLEY LAZARO

Coming up on 15 year anniversary of the passing of this GIANT of a man. Dr. Lazaro is one of the greatest physician's I trained under and he made it possible for me to achieve my childhood dream of becoming a surgeon. Dr. Lazaro was an outstanding sponsor, an amazing teacher, but most of all a kind and helpful Spirit. I was blessed just to know him.

He was one of the most supportive human beings that we had in the Residency Training Program during the 1980s and his mission was always to educate his students and console his patients.

Dr. Lazaro was the embodiment of the very best of medical education. I remember twenty years ago during my surgical clerkship, I glanced over at him and I could see by his twinkling eyes that he was smiling under his surgical mask. He took on any challenge and would always tell his residents to "book it". He went out of his way to help me switch when I was assigned to a hospital that involved a two hour daily commute. I will always remember Dr. Lazaro for his professionalism and compassion. He was such a distinguished gentleman with a warm kind, and gentle soul. They don't make doctors like him anymore.
