Eric "The Prince" Martin

I was shocked to hear that a man as young as Eric passed. I too sparred with Eric after he retired at King's Gym. He still loved to get in the ring and mix it up. I remember hearing bells and seeing a white flash after being hit by his right. He apologized after checking to see if I was OK. He had a good spirit and a good heart. He will be missed. King,s Gym sends condolences to the family. God Bless.

i sparred hundreds of rounds with eric over a span of ten years. i may have won a round, but i don't remember that ever happening. but i learned. and for that, i will remain forever in his debt. eric was there for my amateur fights and
my professional debut, constantly smiling and offering positive vibes as only he could. a priceless friend...

Eric, I can't believe you're gone. The world will be a smaller, sadder place without you.

I trained with Eric for six years and it was about the hardest thing I've ever done. But the mutual respect and the quality of our relationship is one of the highlights of my life.

Eric the "Prince Martin, I can't say enough about you. We trained together. He would religiously call me at 4 a.m. to go running. I never would have gotten up that early if it wasn't for Eric's determination and drive. I never ran before, and it was Eric who started me off running. Most important, he was a true friend. The greatest gift God gives his children is to bring them home. Though I will miss "E" immensely, he lives on in my heart and the many memories we created together. Eternal peace be with "The Prince".

A few years later when I suffered a serious injury, Eric was there getting me back in shape. It's been over 20 years since I last saw him but I've always remembered his spirit and kindness. I will miss my friend. My thoughts go out to his family during this time.
