Eric Sabbaton Merrifield M.D.

Eric was my attending physician supervisor at Firland Sanatorium in the fall of 1967. I so appreciated his knowledge, attitude, grace and bearing. Over the years we would have occasion to meet and greet and it was always an enjoyable encounter. Meeting Eric always made my day better. A civilized and gracious man who lived a long life, touching many people. You can't ask for more than that. Rest In Peace for a life well lived.

I was privileged to be a patient of Dr. Merrifield's and treasured his counsel. He was responsible for my getting a second opinion regarding a pain that ended up being counsel that saved my life with a breast cancer being caught early. May comfort surround his family and friends at this time.

Tom and I are so sorry to hear of the passing of Eric, a fine gentleman and wonderful husband to Kitty. Although we seldom crossed paths (we are the Baltimore arm of the family), he was always so welcoming and gracious. Luckily our daughter recently moved to Tacoma which gave us the opportunity to visit Eric, Kitty and Eric Jr. (including grandson George). Here is the picture of the Tom & Jolie McShane family, Courtney, Erin and Mac along with the Merrifields in November 2018.

I am saddened to learn of Eric's passing. He was a warm, kind, interesting and interested man. It was always a pleasure to run into Eric. We were very fortunate to have him and Kitty as our neighbors.
