ERIC WITTSEPTEMBER 30, 1962 - JULY 17, 2023 Santa Fe - To know Eric was to embrace confusion, virtue, thoughtfulness, frustration, loyalty, but above all, love. True to form until the very end, we're still not sure exactly when or why Eric said his last "Later, Dawg," but Eric was never big on...

Not sure what to say?

Wow. I did not know. Today I thought « who is NM can help me understand resources and approaches to my group´s need? And right away, Eric. Not that I really knew him, but we worked under Richardson. Muy triste, demasiado joven.

It doesn't seem like a year since his Mass with his friend Bill speaking for us all. Eric had it all. And his calm demeanor always preceding listening to a great idea or a path forward to making New Mexico a better place to live. As a writer I had looked forward to a collaboration, but he had too many irons in the fire burning bright. But he still made us feel important and better off for knowing him. And we admired him because he gave us lessons to be learned. I write my words now...

It is with great sadness and shock that I am writing here. I knew Eric from our University of Illinois days. He was everything stated above in the beautiful obituary and so much more. He had such a zest for life and all things fun. He was smart and witty in addition to being one of the most handsome of men. I am carrying all of those who have been affected by this trendies loss in prayer and cradling you all in love. I am so sorry for this tremendous loss - he was indeed special.

My condolences and love to Eric's mom, wife, son, and family. I'm a friend of Eric's from his time at UCLA, but lost touch with him after having twins 18 years ago. I only learned of his passing because I had a dream this morning that he was showing me a transcript that he'd written. I Googled his name to see if he'd written a book, and learned of his crossing over instead. I thought I should let you know that Eric is busy on the other side doing something that he loves. If I get any more...

This is to his Mom Lee. My heart breaks for you. I remember you and Eric so well back in this fresh exciting days. I left NM behind, but those memories last forever. Sending love. Elizabeth Baker

I was deeply impressed with Gov. Richardson's story at the funeral about Eric's role in getting rid of the death penalty. I had no idea he had played such a key part in this. Wow. I used to talk to Eric a lot for work, and he was so generous with his time, and so FUNNY. Also, just a brilliant mind and now that story has added another layer to him. I wish I had talked with him about that. And I didn't know he'd spent time in Africa. I would have loved to talk to him about that too. He has left...

As with so many others, I just wish I had another conversation with Eric. His calm, thoughtful demeanor advising me, always left me comfortable that he was giving me the straight scoop. So smart without telling anyone so. A good guy who made others feel like we were important to him- always calling me Senator even with the many times I said "it's Joe." And knowing them both, you could tell he resembled his mother Lee. Of course he was the foundation of the film industry in New Mexico, and...
