Ericka Valdez, 21, of Moody, passed away early Saturday morning, April 19, 2008. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at St. Eugene Catholic Church with Father Hilario Guajardo as celebrant. Interment will follow in Moody Cemetery.
Ericka was born Aug. 11, 1986, in Phoenix, Ariz., the daughter of Diego Alberto and Tanya Jean (Werpney) Valdez. She attended McGregor High School and Temple Jr. College. She was employed by Consumer Auto Finance in Waco and more recently at Lucy's CafŽ in Moody. She was a member of St. Eugene Catholic Church. Through her life, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Preceding her in death was a cousin, Joangel Lee Guerrero.
Survivors include her father and step-mother, Diego and Sylvia Valdez of Clyde; a son, Jayden Ray Fletcher, of Moody; four brothers, Diego Valdez Jr. of McGregor, Jaime Valdez, Oscar Valdez and Miguel Valdez, all of Clyde; a sister, Monica Olivia of Clyde; paternal grandparents, Oscar and Bertha Valdez of Moody; grandmother, Aurelia Valdez of Mexico; maternal grandmother, Irene French of Big Sandy, Tenn.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Valdez Family.... We can remember Ericka when she was a little girl at Lucy's. She would work there some. A little shy but cute as a bug. Always remember the good times and the way she loved life. May God Bless You and help you through this time. We will be praying for you.

Ericka was such a sweet girl and had a wonderful smile that always shined. I worked with her at blue cross blue shield and she always made me laugh. I can see her shinning smile now. I am praying for your family.
