I did not know Fireman Hirner but what was written about him he was a very special person to his family, friends, fellow firefighters and community. My heartfelt condolences to the Hirner family and beyond. It's difficult and many questions are asked "why him". RIP Fireman Hirner

Dear Hirner family, I am so very sorry for your loss. Erik was a student of mine in the Biology department at Muhlenberg College. I can so clearly and fondly recall his intelligence, sense of humor, and quick smile. He was a gentle soul and was clearly dedicated to helping others.
