Erik Smestad

I will remember that Erik was a very down to earth, smart and funny man. One story I have to tell was when my oldest son was raising money for Cub scouts years ago: Erik saw that we were selling popcorn, and of course he bought some. He said that anytime a kid came to his door selling something, he always said "Yes", because he knew that was not an easy thing for a kid to do. I am saddened to learn of Erik's Passing. My son Sean was in Pack 29 and I can remember what influence Erik had on Sean and on the other boys in the Pack. Erik had a balance of humor and strength. He was a wonderful role model for the boys. We moved away in '08, so it's been awhile since we had seen Erik.
I am so sorry for your loss and our prayers are with you and your family. May you find peace in the coming days.

No words can possibly describe how heartbroken I was to learn of Erik's passing. I can only imagine what you are feeling right now. Erik was a good friend - someone I ALWAYS enjoyed spending time with, even if only occasionally. He was so proud of all of you and bragged about his boys whenever I saw him. I am so glad he was able to attend my promotion party a few weeks ago. He was so happy - that is how I want to remember him.
