Some of my life's most fun and adventurous memories were created in Cordova in the presence of Erling and his brother Erik. I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing.
Erling...you excelled in your passion and drive. You always have and forever will have my utmost respect for the man of great character you have always been. In my own life, when faced with adverse situations, I have paused countless times and asked myself, "what would Erling do?"
You will be missed but...

Eileen and family,
Meeting Erling and Elias in Cub Scouts was a true blessing. The Cub Scout Motto is "Do Your Best"! Erling lived this and was an inspiration to me and to many others. He will be missed.
"Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed - in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on...

Mike and I were very sorry to hear about Earling's passing. He was a close and dear friend throughout our High School years at Pittsford Sutherland and college at St John Fisher as part of group of friends who did everything together.
Our deepest sympathies and thoughts to his wife, children, brothers and family.
He will be remembered always as someone not afraid to find his destiny and make a difference in life and the world around him.
Earling your path and light shines on,...

Eileen, I was saddened to hear of Erling's passing. I appreciated his advice and enjoyed working with him on several other endeavors. I also remember the day you and he married, such happy looks on your faces. The world was a happier place with him in it and a worse place without him. I shall always chuckle when I remember the picture of Erling furiously mowing the lawn in November while checking his watch so that he could get back to work. Our sympathies, thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Eileen,
I first met Erling when he helped me renew my Norwegian passport. He truly was a wonderful and kind human being! I have enjoyed being with your sweet family at many events at Sons of Norway. I am so very sorry to hear of Erling's passing. His big smile and generous spirit will be greatly missed! My thought and prayers are with you and your children!

I met Erling when I was 14 years old while choking herring at Bayside Cold Storage. He had just come to Cordova & was shoveling the herring up on the table! Many years later & after he became mayor, we used to laugh about that☺ He was a good man and My Thoughts and prayers are with Erling's family.
