Not sure what to say?

I am staying at the Lod Cook Hotel where I read the LSU Alumni Magazine "In Memoriam" and saw Dr. Bateman's name. I was shocked and very saddened. Dr. B was my youngest son's orthodontist, while Dr. B and Sara were dear friends of the former Edwin Holt, my beloved friend. Jordan (my son) and I will remember his smiling face, shock of white hair, and endearing personality. I am truly sorry for "our" loss.

Dr. B. saw me through braces for several years, and I was always happy to see his smiling face and hear him call me sweet pumpkin pie. Such a sweet man, he will be greatly missed. I will be thinking of all of you.

Mrs. Bateman & Family,
I loved Bubba & all of you, and know that my prayers are with you all. He was an inspiration to me and my sister Kellyn, and our memories will last forever. UBC was a special place for all of us back when, and was made even more special with his humor, witt, and demonstrated love.
Love, David Hodge

You will be missed!
May God Bless the family that you have
left behind!

My deepest sympathy and prayers are with your family.
Mrs. John Thibodeaux

To the Bateman Family,
I to was a patient of Dr. Bateman's. As well as my daughter.
You meet many people in life that spend a great deal of time telling you they are a christian. Dr. Bateman never had to tell anyone YOU KNEW!! It broke my heart to hear the news. I know you take comfort in knowing he is now in God's hand. We have kept your family in our prayers for some time and will continue to do so. God will see you through.

Thinking of you during this difficult time.
It was so good to see Dr. Bateman and Mrs. Sara this past January, although the circumstances were similar. You are in my prayers.

I was a classmate of Bubba's in the Istrouma class of 1948 and have fond recollections of his friendship, athletic prowess and popularity. About 4 years ago I was in Baton Rouge and joined 5 or 6 classmates at a mini-reunion of '48 grads. Bubba was there and it was such a pleasure to renew our acquaintanceship with each other. I'm so glad to have been able to fellowship with him again. I know he will be deeply missed.

To the family of Dr. Bateman,

When I saw Dr. Bateman's obituary in the paper, my heart remembered his wonderful smile, loving hugs, and gentle spirit.

He will be greatly missed and never forgotten by all of the many friends -- especially the young ones -- whose lives he affected. His positive and loving influence lives on in all who knew him.
